Visual example of the shadow issue on the Sims 4 mesh
You can find the dress HERE.

You’ve created CC and noticed that your creation has dark areas even though your texture looks clean? That’s because you forgot to cleanly separate the edges in Blender.

There are three ways to do it.

Method 1: Separating UV areas with P
Visual Example of how to separate areas with P

Select the part at the edge that belongs together (with L or C or B), move your cursor into the center and press P to separate the selected area from the rest. You know have an extra mesh group. Don’t forget to join the two mesh groups back again with CTRL + J!

Method 2: Cleaning the edges with V

Another quick and easy method is to select all the edges and then pressing V (right click after to don’t mess up anything). It will not work if there is at least one face selected, so sometimes it’s good to go into the edge selectionto avoid such problems.

Method 3: Using the “Edge Split” modifier

To clean up a couple of edges at the same time, you can also use the “Edge Split” modifer. When using an Edge Angle of 80° you will catch a lot of edges. But there will still be areas left that you have to clean up using method 1 or 2.
